YORK College Level 2 music students and other York College bands will take part in Rhythm ‘N’ Ouse, a music collaboration for one night only in The Basement, City Screen, York, on Tuesday.

The 8.15pm gig has been organised and promoted by the students, who will be performing as part of their final project for the year. Bands will cover music genres from across the decades in upbeat and acoustic mode, ranging from The Beatles and The Who to Kanye West and Drake.

Level 2 music course leader Chris Walsh says: “The students have worked really hard to source an appropriate venue for their Rhythm ‘N’ Ouse gig that is in the heart of York with a vibrant yet intimate atmosphere. This project has given the students real-life skills that will help to prepare them for the music industry and working within live music performance.”

Student Caitlin Ramus, formerly of Thirsk School, says: “I’m a self-taught pianist and singer and am really looking forward to performing an Adele cover at the gig. It’s been really eye-opening to see how much work goes into planning something like this from ticket sales to rehearsing.

"The teaching at York College has been incredible and I know that this project will be useful to me in the future as I plan to move on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music before going on to study song-writing in London.”

Tickets cost £5 or £4 for 16 year olds and under on the door.
