MARK Peters, the Liverpool multi-instrumentalist and songwriter for Engineers, is playing live shows for the first time in five years, performing at the Fulford Arms in York on February 23 before a home-city gig at 81 Renshaw Street two nights later.

Peters played his part in four Engineers albums, mixing Eno-like ambience and intricate electronica with the crafted, epic sound of shoegaze. Additionally, Peters partnered indietronica legend Ulrich Schnauss on two sublime albums for Bureau B where his shimmering guitar met delicate melodies in immersive synth soundscapes.

After releasing two collaborative albums in 2015 and 2016 – Deep Blue, made with Elliot Ireland, and Salt Rush with Matthew Linley – Peters is now playing shows this month. He is also to record a podcast with Leo Clayton and Dave Potter, performing some of his favourite psychedelic tunes.

Alongside him on the February 23 bill will be Stereoscope: "purveyors of tenement-doom psychedelia with electro-bullishness from Tim Wright, live drums and insistent snare-lashes from Martell James and the sardonic vocal panting of Andy Johnson". Vocal panting? Sounds intriguing. All will be revealed at the Fulford Arms.

Tickets for this Mild High Club promotion cost £5.90 at eventbrite.co.uk/e/mark-peters-from-engineersstereoscope-live-tickets-31510861836 or on the door from 7pm.
