CARDBOARD Fox, four talented young musicians with their roots in bluegrass music, will play the Milton Rooms, in Malton, on February 28.

Winners of the 2015 Spiral Earth Award for Best Debut, the fast-rising acoustic quartet focus on original songs with a strong pop sensibility, performed with bags of energy in their gigs.

The line-up features the sibling harmonies, guitar and fiddle of Charlotte and Laura, the Carrivick Sisters, who sold out their Milton Rooms debut last year.

They are joined by mandolin player Joe Tozer and the driving double-bass playing and harmony vocals of John Breese.

Cardboard Fox formed only four years ago, but these musicians have been playing together in various collectives and more informal settings for considerably longer. All the band have roots in bluegrass and folk music, but their joint influences stretch much further and this shows in their self-penned songs, musicianship and beautiful vocals, as heard on their first full-length album, Out Of Mind, released last May.

Tickets for the 7pm show cost £10 from the Milton Rooms box office or on 01653 696240.
