THE John Wilson Orchestra follow up the release of their first ever live album, Gershwin In Hollywood: Live At The Royal Albert Hall, with an autumn tour whose one Yorkshire concert will be at Leeds Town Hall tomorrow night.

This year has been a triumphant one for Wilson and his orchestra, who had a coveted win at the Echo Klassik awards in Germany for their Cole Porter In Hollywood recording; enjoyed selling out their BBC Proms concert in record time; and made their Musikfest Berlin debut in a September concert celebrating the MGM film musicals at Berlin’s Philharmonie concert hall.

Wilson's musicians were invited to the festival on the recommendation of Sir Simon Rattle, who played timpani with the orchestra for the encore.

This month the John Wilson Orchestra are undertaking a national tour with their new Music From The Movies show, comprising Oscar-winning songs and movie scores from the golden era of Hollywood.

To coincide with the 12 dates, Warner Classics are releasing a live recording of I Was Doing All Right, a song taken from the 1937 film The Goldwyn Follies, and here featuring the voice of Evita and Wicked star Louise Dearman from the Royal Albert Hall in 2015.

Wilson will conduct his handpicked ensemble of virtuoso players from orchestras across Europe at Leeds Town Hall tomorrow at 7.30pm, when the special guest vocalists will be Kim Criswell and Matt Ford. On the set list will be songs from Funny Girl, My Fair Lady, The Wizard Of Oz, Hello Dolly, Star Wars, Gigi, Tom & Jerry at MGM, Gone With The Wind and more besides.
