EVERY now and then, an album comes along with enough energy, passion and enthusiasm to make you really sit up and listen.
Excitingly, Skinny Lister's latest release combines all that with brilliantly catchy, down-to-earth folk rock foot-stomping tracks more or less guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Shades of The Supernaturals, The Clash, early Mumford & Sons, The Pogues and Dropkick Murphys sneak into each track, none of which is a bad thing, and the album launches by means of a shouty, growling Joe Strummer-esque vocal.
Geordie Lad is a nostalgic look back at a friendship that's drifted apart with a chorus that'll be in your head for days, while Tragedy In A Minor is the happiest, most upbeat song about being left at the altar you've ever heard.
Devil In Me sees vocals handed off from Dan Heptinstall to Lorna Thomas, who channels Stevie Nicks and Andrea Corr to deliver a warning against crossing her, and the dangers of love.
Entertaining, exciting and hugely enjoyable.
