THE "me" in Bette Midler... And Me is West End star and leading lady Sue Kelvin, who performs her one-woman show at York Theatre Royal tonight at 7.30pm.
“When I’m on stage, it’s a party!” once quipped Bette Midler, the Honolulu singer, actress and comedian. Now, Kelvin invites you to join her in a roller-coaster ride through the Divine Miss M's fabulous career.
"The show explores how Bette inspired me to don seven-inch platform shoes and become a musical diva myself," says Sue, who has starred in such West End shows as Wicked, Les Misérables, Fiddler On The Roof and Chicago.
In her humorous and often touching show, Kelvin covers songs such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, The Rose, I’m A Woman and Wind Beneath My Wings and she promises "an outrageous three-minute puppet version" of Bette's tear-jerker movie Beaches.
Bette Midler... And Me was written by Chris Burgess with direction by Paul Foster, choreography from Matthew Cole and design by Simon Wells. Tickets cost £18 from the Theatre Royal box office in person, on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
