NOW that down-streaming is the norm, variations between international pressings of albums has become boringly standardised.

However, every now and then, certain territories offer additional tracks for regional audiences. For this new Dolly pressing, well, Thank God I’m a (UK) country boy.

Not only does the main album, Pure & Simple contain two additional studio tracks missing from the standard American version, Mama and Lovin’ You, but we Brits are also treated to an additional album containing Dolly’s full Glastonbury set from 2015.

Considered by many to be Dolly’s finest moment, the additional CD will prove for many totally irresistible, in that it contains all the hits such as Jolene, Coat Of Many Colours and Banks Of The Ohio, as well as the strategically planned Mud Song and Lay Your Hands On Me, co-starring Richie Sambora.

Ostensibly the main event, Pure & Simple is Dolly’s 48th studio album, which skilfully colours by numbers the quality country ballads Dolly has made her own. Interestingly, Dolly revisits Tomorrow Is Forever and Say Forever You’ll Be Mine, two songs she originally recorded with Porter Wagoner more than 40 years ago.
