JOAN As Police Woman returns with a new album on October 21, this time working alongside fellow Brooklyn musician Benjamin Lazar Davis.

Released by Reveal Records, Let It Be You is a collaboration from studio to stage by two artists with an ability to cross musical genres. Joan Wasser has worked previously with Antony And The Johnsons (now Anohni), Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and David Sylvian while multi-instrumentalist Lazar Davis performs with Okkervil River, Cuddle Magic and Bridget Kearney.

The duo met after separate trips to Africa; Ethiopia for Joan as part of Damon Albarn's Africa Express and West Africa for Benjamin to study traditional music. They bonded over Central African Republic Pygmy musical patterns and ended up writing the album together, loosely inspired by this music.

On the September 30 single Broke Me In Two, for example, the African influence can be heard in the staccato guitar line that plays throughout this joyous, love-soaked pop song. Look out for the video that features not only Joan and Benjamin but also Fred Armisen, best known for his comedy roles in Saturday Night Live, Portlandia and Anchorman, The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Performing with a full band on their autumn tour, Joan and Benjamin will play Leeds Belgrave Music Hall on November 15, when they will showcase songs from Let It Be You and re-imagine landmark recordings from the four previous Joan As Policewoman albums, Real Life, To Survive, The Deep Field and The Classic.
