BACK on form, having scored an international chart topper with The Pet Shop Boys with What Have I Done to Deserve This, Reputation cemented Dusty Springfield’s resurrected career, after a few shaky commercially fallow years.

Now restored as a rather handsome double CD and DVD package, including the original set, 12-inch mixes from the period and a five-track DVD of archive pop videos, Reputation reigns with Dusty In Memphis as a career highlight for many a hard-core Springfield fan.

Originally released in June 1990, many expected an entire album of Pet Shop Boys collaborations. Tennant and Lowe eventually came up with half an album (Side 2). This included the lead single, the sublime, understated Nothing Has Been Proved, which featured on the Scandal movie soundtrack, the truly gorgeous Daydreaming and a cover of the Carole King & Gerry Goffin classic I Want To Stay Here.

Side 1 is just as impressive, thanks to Julian Mendelsohn, Paul Staveley O’Duffy and Dan Hartman, who collaborated on the splendid title track and Arrested By You.
