THE Brexit decision was already a forgone conclusion the moment those little Busker-boys Joe and Jake stumbled in second to last at this year’s Eurovision. However, we should never forget that neither Germany nor France fares well at that annual musical jamboree.

Perhaps it is time for these three nations to re-think their membership of this fiasco, especially bearing in mind the sheer quality control of French import Christine And The Queens.

From the opening heartbeat throb of I.T., to its closing moments, Chaleur Humaine is an uber-sophisticated, cool, understated and gloriously chic confection.

Musically, imagine Sinead O’Connor without the issues, fused with Vangelis and Depeche Mode, with a sprinkle of Kim Carnes’s Bette Davis Eyes, delivered in an enchanting dual English –French manner.

Once heard, the lead single Tilted is lodged firmly in the conscious forever. Tilted gives a mere taste for what else is on display. Yet, much more than just musically, Heloise Letissier and her compatriots have demonstrated a very visual side to their act, as memorably seen on the Graham Norton Show and at Glastonbury. To date, this is by far the standout album of 2016.
