JAMES Bay, the 2016 Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter, is heading to the bay this summer. More precisely, he will be playing Scarborough Open Air Theatre on July 12.

Tickets go on sale from £35 at 9am on Friday at scarboroughopenairtheatre.com or in person from the box office in Burniston Road, or alternatively from ticketmaster.co.uk The Hitchin-born musician burst into the charts in late 2014 with Hold Back The River and his debut album, Chaos and The Calm, hit the top spot in its week of release in March 2015, taking up residency in the Top 20 for 40 weeks, en route to selling more than two million copies around the world.

Bay has notched further hits with Let It Go, Scars and Best Fake Smile and has collaborated live with such luminaries as Ronnie Wood, Ed Sheeran, Jack Garratt, also performing alongside Justin Bieber at this year’s Brits, where he was crowned Best British Male. This year too, he was nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Best New Act.

His Scarborough concert is being organised by promoters Cuffe and Taylor, whose director, Peter Taylor, said: “James is without a doubt one of the most in-demand artists around. He's one of the biggest breakthrough artists of the last few years, proven by his stunning number one album, international critical acclaim and his many, many award accolades.

“He performed a wonderful set at last year’s Glastonbury festival and he has sold out shows across Europe, as well as two tours in the United States, so this is going to a be a gig no-one will want to miss.”
