FOUR weeks on from the re-issues of Face Value and Both Sides, Warner present the next two albums in the Phil Collins series: 1982's Hello I Must Be Going and 1996's Dance Into The Light.
Lest we forget, most homes with a pop collection in the Eighties owned Hello…, which of course featured Thru These Walls, It Doesn’t Matter To Me and the monster hit cover of The Supremes' You Can’t Hurry Love.
Less ubiquitous, Dance Into The Light features the rather lovely Just Another Story and a workmanlike cover of Dylan’s The Times They Are A-Changing. But it’s the deluxe secondary discs in both collections which will excite Collins’ steadfast fanbase.
Each set, curated personally by Mr Collins, features mostly live recordings from the parent album, demonstrating how the material evolved. Some may have preferred period 12” mixes, but many of these, in truth, have not survived the ravages of time, so perhaps the live recordings are the best option.
