BILL Ryder-Jones returns to York at the invitation of Please Please You promoter Joe Coates to play The Crescent, in The Crescent, on February 17.

"His latest album, West Kirby County Primary, was released by Domino Records last November to deservedly great reviews," says Joe. "Last time was magical, so don't miss another opportunity to see one of the best young songwriters in the country, steadfast to his singular vision, untouched by the industry or fads."

The follow-up to 2013's A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart was written and recorded by Ryder-Jones in his West Kirby childhood bedroom at his mother’s house before being filtered through Liverpool’s legendary Parr Street Studios.

"West Kirby County Primary features Bill playing a multitude of instruments, including the electric guitar with his trademark prowess," says Joe. "Mixed by James Ford, each of the ten tracks offers a sneaked glance into his private world. They eavesdrop on a set of encounters that go about 'turning stories into beautiful truth', set to glorious molten melodies that explode like fireworks over water."

Jones is equally at ease on stage with the Manchester Camerata, performing If at last autumn's Manchester Literature Festival, or on live guitar duties with Arctic Monkeys, as he is on production duties for Hooton Tennis Club and The Wytches.

Ryder-Jones, who was a member of The Coral from 1996 to 2008, will be supported next Wednesday by York singer-songwriter Sam Griffiths and Wolf Solent.
