Organised by the tireless Graham Bradbury, the charity event will be hosted by BBC Radio York presenters Jonathan Cowap and Adam Tomlinson and is sponsored by the Shepherd Group.

"We have an eclectic mix of entertainment, ranging from youth groups to 'wrinkly' rockers to appeal to all ages," says Graham. "Adam Tomlinson will be bringing along the Pick Me Up Theatre ensemble, who will perform pieces from their February production of Les Miserables, and Rebecca Newman will finish with her flood appeal charity recording of Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water.

"We also just had to have Ish Herd back after the Lord Mayor's Gala Concert last year when she stole the show with her Victoria Wood set."

Tickets are on sale at £10, concessions £8, on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.
