YORK'S very own Prima Vocal Ensemble will join the Angel City Chorale from Los Angeles and The Mowbray Orchestra from Ripon next summer to present the European premiere of Christopher Tin's The Drop That Contained The Sea.

The first of three British performances of Tin's orchestral and choral suite will take place at York Barbican on Saturday, July 16, when the two choirs will re-unite for the first time since the world premiere at New York's Carnegie Hall in 2014.

Tin's classical-crossover work draws on ethnic themes, classical influences and ancient and modern texts and he will conduct the trio of concerts that will feature excerpts from his earlier pieces plus a new commission.

Tin has a host of awards to his name, most notably two Grammy awards, and he has had a Billboard chart entry at number one too.

Tickets go on sale at £10 to £25.20 tomorrow at 10am on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.
