SORRY to mention the "C" word in September, but the harmony-happy vocal quintet The Overtones are to host A Christmas Party at York Barbican on December 12 in their only Yorkshire Yuletide tour date.

This will follow the November 27 release of their Good Ol' Fashioned Christmas album of festive family favourites, the first on the Londoners' own Gambling Man Records label after four consecutive top ten albums and 800,000 record sales.

Timmy Matley, Mark Franks, Lachie Chapman, Mike Crawshaw and Danny Everest have recorded such Christmas crackers as White Christmas, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and Let It Snow, working in tandem with regular producers Graham Archer and Julian Hinton. To add to the seasonal cheer, they will complement the familiar winter warmers with two new Christmas songs, the title track and This Christmas Time.

“I can't wait to get in the festive spirit with everyone and have a great party!” says Overtone Darren Everest. “Doing a Christmas album is something we've always wanted to do and also something that the fans have asked for, for a while. We're very proud of it and hope everyone enjoys a Good Ol' Fashioned Christmas with us.”

Darren and co invite you to "don your best Christmas jumper, pull some crackers, bring your Santa hat, crack open the bubbly and get lost in a night of high-spirited festive hijinks".

All four of The Overtones’ albums to date have been accompanied by sold-out theatre tours, not least London shows at the Palladium and Hammersmith Apollo. In addition, they have played such events as The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert and the Festival of Remembrance and supported such charities as Operation Smile, Nordoff Robins and BBC Children In Need.

Tickets for the 7pm performance of A Christmas Party With The Overtones are on sale on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk and in person from the York Barbican box office.
