WILL Young will open The Love Revolution Tour, his first in four years, at York Barbican on October 29 as he basks in the success of his fourth successive number one album this week.

Tickets will go on sale for 22 British and Irish dates at 9am on Friday at livenation.co.uk/artist/will-young-tickets, yorkbarbican.co.uk and on 0844 854 2757.

York will be the only Yorkshire location on a tour that will showcase the 2002 Pop Idol winner's new album 85% Proof, Young's sixth studio record and his first since the chart-topping Echoes in 2011.

In the intervening years, Young moved back to theatre to star as the louche Emcee in Kander and Ebb's musical Cabaret; presented an ITV documentary on surrealist artist Magritte; filtered his passion for politics via blogs for the Huffington Post; wrote his autobiography and fronted a campaign for Stonewall, the gay rights charity.

He last appeared on a Yorkshire stage in Cabaret at Hull New Theatre in November 2013. He performed an open-air concert at Dalby Forest, near Pickering, for the Forestry Commission in June the previous year.
