ICONIC Yorkshire indie music night Charm returns to Harrogate’s coolest bar, Major Tom’s Social, in The Ginnel, for a night of summer pop, 60s-influenced classic British guitar rock and psychedelia on Thursday, June 11.

Noted for bringing Wild Beasts, Gruff Rhys, Julian Cope, I Like Trains, This Et Al and The Grammatics to Harrogate in the past, the latest Charm gig will be headlined by Leeds guitar band The Seagulls.

Boasting a 60s psychedelic sound, quirky songwriting skills, unusual harmonies and a very British rock n’ roll vibe, The Seagulls’ latest single, Girl You Must Be Dreaming, has been receiving rave reviews.

You can watch the promo video on YouTube at bit.ly/1Hk5mbY The five-piece band are fresh from supporting cult indie band The Monochrome Set at a London show. In the line-up are Dominic Richmond, guitar and lead vocals; Jon Richmond, guitar; Nick Richmond, keyboards; Alex Fells, bass, and Sam Wainwright, drums.

The Seagulls cite their influences as The Kinks, Scott Walker, Lee Hazelwood, Conor Oberst, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, Stone Roses, The Jam and My Morning Jacket. They make their live debut in Harrogate for Charm in the build-up to the release of their new album on Sandtrap Records.

Hosted by Charm founder Graham Chalmers, The Second Summer Of Charm event will feature a light show too, courtesy of VJ Quadrod, who will be in charge of the Charm mix of classic tracks picked by Charm’s team of musicians and music writers.

Tickets cost £4 from Harrogate Theatre, on 01423 502116 or on the door from 7.30pm.
