THE first York Fake Festival takes place on Knavesmire, York, on Saturday when touring tribute bands will be joined by five York support acts lucky enough to have earned their spot.
From hundreds of applicants, singer-songwriter Beth McCarthy, secondary school-age rock covers band Minster Conspiracy, alternative rock trio Blind Eye, metal stalwarts RSJ and powerhouse rock combo A Joker’s Rage have been selected by the Fake Festival team to perform in the marquee.
“We're really lucky to have such talented musical artists in the region and we were not short of applicants this year,” says Dave O’Hara, licence holder for York Fake Festival. “It's been very difficult to choose just five artists to perform, but we hope we've chosen something for everyone, and we're very excited to have them perform on our main stage.”
Headlining the inaugural festival will be Four Fighters, Antarctic Monkeys and New2. The event will run from 12.30pm to 11pm and more information and ticket details can be found at fakefestivals.co.uk
