THE Mavericks invite you to Dance The Night Away on their Mono Mundo Tour, visiting York Barbican on Monday, September 14. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10am on 0844 854 2757 or at yorkbarbican.co.uk

The tour comes on the back of the April release of Mono, their first album since the departure of long-time bassist Robert Reynolds in late 2014 and two years on from In Time, their "comeback" album after a ten-year hiatus since 2003's self-titled The Mavericks.

As ever, Raul Malo's baritone leads the South Florida country, Latin, cow-punk and rockabilly band through such songs as the Cuban-inspired first single All Night Long, Summertime (When I'm With You), Out The Door, (Waiting For) The World To End, Stories We Could Tell and Let It Rain (On Me).

The Mavericks, who began as a garage band playing the punk clubs on Miami Beach, will kick off the Mono Mundo Tour in Boston, Philadelphia and New York City before heading to Europe.

Malo, the son of Cuban immigrants, looks forward to bringing people together once more in the name of good times and great music on The Mavericks' latest travels. "The world has too much strife, racial and social divides being fed 24/7; it's non-stop," he says. "It turns normal, loving people into brainwashed zombies who can't come together. Maybe it's the hopeless romantic in me, but I'd like to make a place where all people can come together."

Malo last played on The Press territory in An Intimate Evening With Raul Malo in November 2010, performing with accordion and bajo sexto player Michael Guerra at Pocklington Arts Centre.

Tickets for September 14 cost £42.
