AS part of the Tour de Yorkshire celebrations, Cherry Burton Arts has invited Sunderland acoustic singer-songwriter Paul Liddell to perform at Cherry Burton Village Hall, near Beverley, on Saturday at 8pm.

Cherry Burton is on the race route, and once competitors have passed through the village shortly after leaving Beverley, Liddell will be peddling – rather than pedalling – his new CD, Andelain, whose official release date is only a few days after this concert.

To help cover the album costs, Liddell set up a Kickstarter fund-raiser account, where fans could order and pay for the album in advance, and within two hours the necessary amount had been raised.

Welcoming Liddell to East Yorkshire, Martin Peirson, of Cherry Burton Arts, says: “Sometimes young artists come on to the scene that are just that bit special and Paul is definitely in that category. As well as his obvious talents, everyone seems to warm to him personally and since his initial appearances here in the village – which led to other shows at venues and festivals in the area – he has developed a great following.”

Blues musicians One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer open the show. Tickets are on sale at £10 at wegottickets.com, the Beverley Tourist Information office, Costcutter in Cherry Burton and on 01964 551145.
