BUOYED by the international success of their Sweet Home Chicago tour, The Chicago Blues Brothers are returning to Britain with a new action-packed show. What’s On has three pairs of tickets to be won for Thursday’s (April 23) show at the Grand Opera House, York, courtesy of the Cumberland Street theatre.

Back in 1978, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, alias Joliet Jake Blues and Elwood J Blues, first unleashed the might that was to become The Blues Brothers on NBC’s Saturday Night Live show, coast to coast in the United States.

Did Belushi and Aykroyd realise they would initiate an abundance of folk wearing pork pie hats and dark glasses, all professing to be on a mission from God? Possibly.

However, they definitely became the ultimate ambassadors of the music they loved.

Somewhat mirroring the two Blues Brothers films, 30 years of rock solid rhythm and blues are the foundation of The Chicago Blues Brothers show, complete with an elaborate stage set and a seven-piece live band, as they pack the pearls of blues, Tamla Motown and soul music into two hours.

Hits from both movies, such as Everybody Needs Somebody, Rawhide, Gimme Some Lovin’ and Sweet Home Chicago, will be complemented by James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Otis Reading smashes.

Tickets for Thursday’s 7.30pm show are on sale on 0844 871 3024 and at atgtickets.com/york
