PAUL Weller’s 7.30pm concert at York Barbican tomorrow night has sold out.

The Modfather is playing a 14-date tour of a “more varied selection of towns than the usual run of arenas” ahead of the May 18 release of his 12th studio album, Saturns Pattern, on May 18 on Parlophone Records.

The album will be issued in myriad formats: a standard CD and digital download; a CD/DVD; a digital deluxe edition with three extra tracks; and a deluxe box set containing a CD with three extra tracks, a DVD and a vinyl version.

Weller completed half the recordings before last summer’s festival season and American tour and returned to the studio in September, setting himself a finishing date of Christmas, “because I want it out in spring next year,” he said. “It’s moving on from Sonik Kicks, more groove-based and funky, but still good melodies.”

Last June, Weller performed at Dalby Forest as part of the Forestry Commission’s 2014 Forest Live concert programme.

The former leader of The Jam and The Style Council will return to Yorkshire on November 29 to play the Leeds First Direct Arena. Tickets are on sale at bookingsdirect.com and on 0844 338 0000.
