ARTHUR Brown, the God Of Hellfire, will at last tell the story of his crazy world in An Evening With Arthur Brown, on tour at The Basement, City Screen, York, tomorrow night.
The 72-year-old rock’n’roll firebrand from Whitby, who attended Roundhay Grammar School, Leeds, will recall torching the French Mafia’s club in Spain, what happened when Jimi Hendrix’s girlfriend came home after a night with Arthur and much more.
“Arthur Brown was a pioneer of performance theatre, and tomorrow’s show will be a multimedia presentation of his life and times,” says gig promoter Tim Hornsby.
“He’ll take a journey through demons, The Goddess, shaven-headed soldiers, military police, beatniks, boozing bishops and great musicians.”
Brown will be joined on stage by his co-journey maker, Angel Fallon. “Well known to fans as his extravagant dancer, Angel will dance – of course – wear costumes, sing and help narrate the whole story,” says Tim.
“So there you have it: an evening of music, dance and tall tales. Oh, did we mention the puppetry, projection and animation as well?”
Tickets cost £14 online at thebasementyork.co.uk or on the door from 8pm.
