PIANIST Ian Pace will give the first concert of the 2015 York Late Music series tonight at St Saviourgate Unitarian Chapel, York.
His 7.30pm programme will include James Dillon’s The Book of Elements (Volume One); Judith Weir’s The King Of France; Schoenberg’s Six Little Pieces; Schumann’s Papillon; Kurtág’s Eight Piano Pieces; and Ligeti’s Etudes (Book One).
Pace will perform the premiere of new works by two York composers; Steve Crowther, the Late Music administrator, and Edward Caine, who will both take part in a pre-concert talk at 6.45pm on the theme of Small Is Beautiful: exploring the miniature form in contemporary music.
Judith Weir’s The King Of France is a set of variations on the folk tune El Rey De Francia. Weir is the first female Master of the Queen’s Music and will be the featured composer for the 2015 Late Music concert series.
Tickets will be available on the door.
