Beloved singer Katherine Jenkins’s Home Sweet Home tour sees the Welsh mezzo soprano celebrating ten years of success and accolades.

The world’s most prolific classical crossover artist has released nine albums and sold more than eight million copies over the course of her decade long career, as well as winning two BRIT awards and receiving an OBE.

The excited chatter that filled the packed Barbican gave way to awed silence as the orchestra took their places and began to play.

The silence was only broken when Katherine herself took to the stage, and even then only after she had finished her opening song.

Whether singing classical pieces like Beethoven’s Ode To Joy or popular modern ones such as Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Katherine’s hauntingly beautiful voice truly has to be heard to be believed.

Her talent and clear love of performing made for a genuinely enchanting experience, with amusing anecdotes and personal stories between songs. There were even some comedic points, made all the more amusing by her hilarious silent partner, conductor Antony Inglis.

Special guest John Owen-Jones was similarly impressive, delivering some extremely entertaining performances, including Tom Jones’s Thunderball and the recent Eurovision hit Rise Like A Phoenix.

Katherine Jenkins is a rare example of a genuine world-class talent, her entire performance an absolute joy to behold. Even during her encore, encouraging the audience to sing along, not a soul could be heard.
