LEEDS band The Dunwells round off their February travels with two Yorkshire gigs at Fruit in Hull tomorrow and a home-city finale at The Wardrobe in Leeds on Saturday.

The four-piece of brothers Joseph and David Dunwell and cousins Jonny Lamb and Rob Clayton have returned from the US to reconnect with Yorkshire with their anthemic rock and four-part harmonies, and the focus will soon turn to their as-yet-unscheduled third album, the follow-up to 2013's Follow The Road and 2012's Blind Sighted Faith.

"We definitely envisage it coming out this year," says Joseph.

"We recorded a bunch of songs with Steve Harris at Kilham, just outside Bridlington, and after we finished those, we provided tracks to the record company, and because they love the band so much they have come up with a strategic plan for our music. We've since written the song Lucky Ones, which will be the lead single for the album and that's now being mixed in America by Manny Maroquin."

Lucky Ones was written with James Flanagan, a songwriter in London, and the band have been working with other writers too, all part of the record company's "strategic plan".

"After we finished the songs with Steve, we wrote a load of songs with various people as we had some time on our hands and it was something we were keen to do," says Joseph. "Me and Dave had started writing songs at our little studio, and we then wrote songs with other songwriters; James's was the one we co-wrote that stood out."

Joseph has no qualms about bringing other songwriters into the Dunwells' world.

"You find you're pulling out the same chords or the same melodies, so to get other influences into a song is key to progressing," he says. "By no stretch of the imagination am I the best songwriter in the world; I still have a lot to learn."
