IAN McCulloch, long-time lead lip of Liverpool band Echo And The Bunnymen, will give a rare solo performance at Leeds City Varieties tomorrow night.
McCulloch, now 55, will be performing stripped-down versions of classic Bunnymen tracks, such as The Cutter, Seven Seas, Rescue, Bring On the Dancing Horses, The Killing Moon, and Nothing Lasts Forever, as well as songs from his own solo catalogue that now runs to four albums.
McCulloch’s last solo studio set was Pro Patria Mori in 2012 and the Bunnymen’s latest record, Meteorites, was issued last year, initially planned as a solo venture before McCulloch invited Will Sergeant to add his trademark guitar.
McCulloch and Sergeant formed Echo And The Bunnymen in 1978, since when they have made such albums as 1980’s Crocodiles, 1981’s Heaven Up Here, 1983’s Porcupine, 1994’s Ocean Rain, 1997’s Evergreen, 1999’s What Are You Going To Do With Your Life? and 2009’s The Fountain.
