YORK band Shed Seven are to mount their now customary tour in December, taking in two Yorkshire shows, but their home city is not on the list.

Instead, the Sheds will play Sheffield O2 Academy on December 10 and Leeds O2 Academy on the closing night, December 21, as part of a 14-date itinerary that will open at the Isle of Man Villamarina on December 1.

Singer Rick Witter, guitarists Paul Banks and Joe Johnson, bass player Tom Gladwin and drummer Alan Leach will combine greatest hits with fan favourites on a tour where their special guests will be Manchester band Inspiral Carpets, who released their first album in 20 years in 2014.

'After a great run of festivals last summer, we're excited to be hitting the road again for what has become a biennial tradition for the band. And don't bother checking, it's definitely biennial, not biannual," said Witter.

"This time round we're welcoming special guests Inspiral Carpets. We last played together on a short UK tour 21 years ago. It should be a good one and after all, to those in the know, Christmas just isn't the same anymore without a Sheds tour in December."

Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am at gigsandtous.com and on 0844 811 0051.
