ELKIE Brooks is celebrating her 70th birthday with a British tour that will visit the Grand Opera House, York, on July 9.
The Salford soul singer, who will turn 70 on February 25, is in the fifth decade of her career that has encompassed hit singles, million-selling albums, awards and annual tours. In 2012, she released her autobiography Finding My Voice.
In her 7.30pm concert, Elkie will perform her hits, such as Pearl’s A Singer, Lilac Wine and Don’t Cry Out Loud, complemented by blues and jazz numbers. Tickets cost £23.50 or £25.50 on 0844 871 3024 or at atgtickets.com/york
