WEST Yorkshire pop star Gareth Gates will lead the West End cast in Mad About The Musicals at York Barbican on November 6.
The Bradford singer turned actor, who made his name when pipped to the first Pop Idol crown by Will Young in 2001, last appeared in York in September 2012 as the callous Warner in Legally Blonde The Musical at the Grand Opera House.
This autumn, he will be joined by fellow musical theatre performer Michael Courtney, the revue show's producer and director, and a song-and-dance cast and musicians grounded in London shows.
Gates and Courtney will undertake a whistle-stop tour from the heart of London’s theatre land to the glitz of Broadway, their two-hour musical journey taking in Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Boublil and Schonberg.
