BARBARA Dickson will play Leeds Town Hall on the penultimate night of her 24-date tour on March 6.

The Scottish singer, songwriter, folk musician and Olivier Award-winning actress will set out with her band on February 1 to perform material old and new, pop and folk, from a musical odyssey that spans six decades.

Now 67, Barbara emerged first from the Scottish folk revival of the 1960s, becoming the biggest-selling Scottish female album artist of all time, earning six platinum, 11 gold and seven silver albums.

Through the 1970s and 1980s, she had hits with Answer Me, January February, Another Suitcase In Another Hall, The Caravan Song and I Know Him So Well, and her parallel acting career has taken in John, Paul, George, Ringo And Bert, Spend, Spend, Spend and Willy Russell's Blood Brothers. She was Russell's muse for the role of Mrs Johnstone and was the first to play the impoverished Liverpool single mother with the guilty secret.

In 2002, Barbara was awarded an OBE for Services to Music and Drama. Ask her what the highlight of her career has been, and she says: "I don’t know. It hasn’t happened yet."

Tickets for her 7.30pm concert are on sale at £26 on 0113 224 3801 and at leeds.gov.uk/townhall
