TENOR Alfie Boe will take centre stage in a Last Night Of The Proms concert, organised to coincide with Armed Forces Day, at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on June 27 this summer.

Boe is part way through his British arena tour to mark the autumn release of his latest album Serenata, having notched up more than one million sales of four Top Ten albums already.

In Scarborough, Boe and his orchestra will perform songs from all his albums, such as Granada, God Give Me Strength, Luna Malinconia (Blue Moon) and Nessun Dorma, as well as Bring Him Home from Les Miserables and Danny Boy, from ITV1’s period drama Mr Selfridge, where he appeared as tenor Richard Chapman.

The harmonious voices of the Military Wives Choir York will be on the bill too, making a return to the Open Air Theatre after their Summer 2014 performance. Tickets cost £30 on 01723 821888 or at scarboroughspa.co.uk

Cllr David Chance, ScarboroughBorough Council’s cabinet member for tourism and culture, says: “We don’t mind admitting that Alfie Boe has been on our wish list for some time, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to secure him for next season."
