TOMORROW night's 7.30pm concert by revolutionary Vermont singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell at The Band Room, Low Mill, Farndale, near Kirkbymoorside, has sold out.

" Anais has been called 'the Queen of Modern American Folk Music' so fare thee well, then, 'Americana Princess'," says Band Room promoter Nigel Burnham. "Clearly one of the most engaging and stunningly original artists working in new American folk, she completes her hat-trick of Band Room shows tomorrow and is the missing link between Gillian Welch, Joanna Newsom and Cyndi Lauper."

Anais is undertaking American, British and Irish tours in support of her new limited-edition release, Xoa, a rare solo recording she made with Gary Paczosa, who produced her February 2013 album, Child Ballads.

"I made Xoa mainly for you beautiful people in response to requests from y’all over the years," says Anais on her website. "It’s got a few new and previously unrecorded songs, a few from Hadestown that were sung by other artists on the record, and a few from my back catalogue."

Anais won the award for Best Traditional Song at the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Willie Of Winsbury, recorded with Jefferson Hamer, who performed the song with her at the Royal Albert Hall ceremony in February.
