INTERNATIONAL pianist Sarah Beth Briggs, from York, returns to the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, University of York, on Wednesday night with a typically diverse programme at 7.30pm.

Sarah Beth will be performing Mozart's Fantasy in C minor; Haydn's Sonata in C Hob XVI/50; Beethoven's Sonata in E minor Opus 90; Chopin's Fantasy in F minor and Ballade No 1 in G minor and Britten's Three Character Pieces, a work written when he was 17 but not given its premiere until 1989, when Sarah Beth had the honour of doing so.

Sarah Beth’s professional career was launched at the age of 11 when she became – at that time – the youngest-ever finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. Four years later, she gained international recognition as joint winner of the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, since when she has enjoyed a busy international career as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician.

Sarah Beth's fifth album for the Semaphore label, Sarah Beth Briggs Plays Debussy And Chopin, will be released on CD at the start of December and will be available from the usual sources, such as Amazon, as well as from her website, sarahbethbriggs.co.uk
