DOO-WOP and rhythm & blues stalwarts The Drifters bring The Optimum Tour to York Barbican on Sunday night.
"We really can't wait to see you all on Sunday 14th September at The Barbican in York," the American group Tweeted this Monday.
Originally created in 1953 as a backing group for Clyde McPhatter, The Drifters have since featured more than 60 vocalists over their 61-year career. In the latest line-up are Pierre Herelle, Michael Williams, Ryan King and Carlton Powell, who also performed the 60th Anniversary Diamond Dynasty World Tour last year.
As ever, The Drifters will be singing such favourites as Save The Last Dance For Me, Under The Boardwalk, Saturday Night At The Movies, Up On The Roof, Kissin' In The Back Row, Come On Over To My Place, More Than A Number In My Little Red Book and There Goes My First Love.
Sunday's audience are promised "a fast moving, exhilarating show bringing the optimum of The Drifters' own historical legacy, along with events, people and culture over the decades of the dynasty, plus brand new recordings released in late 2013".
Tickets for the 7.30pm show cost £25 on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk, at the box office from 2pm on the day or on the door from 6.30pm.
