A NEW season of concerts featuring some of the country’s leading musicians has been announced in East Yorkshire.

The forthcoming season promises to deliver a wide variety of music. It will run from October to May 2015, with performances at Beverley and Bridlington as well as workshops in local schools.

The season opens with the Caliente Trio at Toll Gavel United Church in Beverley on Thursday, October 3 at 7.30pm. The Trio is made up of Clare Southworth, flute, Andy Scott, saxophone and Lauren Scott, harp.

A fusion of classical and jazz-influenced music, Caliente performs music specially written by award-winning composer Andy Scott, alongside works by Ibert, Faure, Corigliano and Piazzolla.

London Theatre Voices will make a welcome return to the area at The Spa, Bridlington on Sunday, November 2, at 2pm, with Tea for Two at Two.

The quartet of singers will entertain with a variety of cabaret songs, musical theatre and even a small hint of opera.

The quartet consists of Julie Dawn Lloyd, Andrew Tinkler, Deborah Davison, and Ben Kerslake, with Simon Haynes on the piano.

Manchester Camerata will return to Bridlington in January with a New Year’s Viennese Gala with all the classic Vienna waltzes and songs audiences have come to expect from this celebrated event.

Captivating young conductor Alexandre Bloch will lead the orchestra and audience through the streets of Vienna with humour and style, as the supreme talent of soprano Ailish Tynan brings these sublime songs to life.

Highlights include the famed Blue Danube by Johann Strauss, and the cheeky Plink, Plank, Plunk and Waltzing Cat by American composer Leroy Anderson.

The event is suitable for all ages, and pre-theatre lunch is available.
