AMERICAN virtuoso guitarist, pianist and songwriter Nils Lofgren is to play Leeds City Varieties Music Hall on January 22 next year.

Lofgren is a long-time member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, joining up with The Boss most recently for this year's High Hopes tour and his Wrecking Ball world travels in 2012-2013.

Known as much for his on-stage acrobatics as his guitar prowess, the 63-year-old Chicago musician has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the E Street Band, but is a rock legend in his own right as the front-man of Grin and under his own name. To emphasise the point, he has released Face The Music, a ten-disc retrospective box set of his 45 years of recordings.

He will be joined in his acoustic set by multi-instrumentalist Greg Varlotta for such Lofgren favourites as Shine Silently, I Came To Dance and Keith Don't Go.

Tickets for the 8pm show cost £29.20 to £39.10 online at cityvarieties.co.uk or on 0113 243 0808.
