PORTSMOUTH singer-songwriter Julia Fordham will be accompanied by pianist Grant Mitchell at tomorrow's concert in Selby, two days ahead of her 52nd birthday.

Mitchell was the arranger and producer of such early Fordham favourites as Happy Ever After, Woman Of The 80s, Where Does The Time Go and I Thought It Was You and he was the producer of most recent album too, Under The Rainbow, in June 2013.

Julia first made her mark as Jules Fordham in her days as a member of Mari Wilson's backing troupe The Wilsations. She went on to score a series of top 40 albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s, such as Porcelain, Swept, Falling Forward and her self-titled 1988 debut.

As her career blossomed, she moved to Los Angeles, and after her smoky, bluesy, jazz bar tones were often likened to those of Joni Mitchell, Joni's husband produced her fourth album.

Tomorrow's set will span her career, including Girlfriend, Lock And Key, Towerblock and the international hit Love Moves (In Mysterious Ways), a Top 20 success in January 1992.

This autumn, Julia will be be back on the road to mark the 25th anniversary of Porcelain with 18 dates that include Leeds City Varieties Music Hall on November 12.

Tickets for tomorrow cost £20 in advance on 01757 708449 or at selbytownhall.co.uk or £22 on the door from 7.30pm. For Leeds tickets, 0113 243 0808 or at cityvarieties.co.uk
