RISING York band The Buffalo Skinners are not only a late addition to Scarborough Seafest 2014, but they also will be the headliners, topping Saturday night's music bill at 10.10pm after the ten o'clock fireworks.

The free three-day festival on Scarborough’s West Pier, at South Bay, runs from tomorrow until Sunday and features music ranging from DJ Mister Tooley's gospel breakfast to North Yorkshire bands and choirs, plus street theatre, a pop-up West Indian carnival and cooking demonstrations.

Among the highlights will be the Paradise Steel Band; Circo Rum Ba Ba; The Institute of Crazy Dancing; performances by Scarborough's Animated Objects Theatre Company with giant puppetry for the whole family; the chance to meet freshly caught mermaid Miranda; and Leeds West Indian Carnival's aforementioned pop-up event from midday to 2.30pm on Saturday at the Spa end of the South Bay.

Look out too for the Great Yorkshire Brewery's real ale tent; Morris dancing; food and craft stalls; a maritime and heritage display and an array of activities for children. These include sea-themed art workshops, face painting, circus skills sessions, story-telling events, rock pool rambles and dinosaur footprint hunts.

The full music programme starts tomorrow at 7pm with Asio's Eyes; 8.30pm, The Republic Of Trees; 10pm, The Sub Gents. Saturday's line up is: 10am, Gospel Breakfast; 12.15pm, Tony Grimaud; 1pm, John Watton; 1.45pm, Stephen Joseph Theatre Youth Choir; 2.30pm, Spearmint Rock; 3.30pm, Fun Key Choir; 4.30pm, Colcannon; 5.30pm, Everyone Loves Ernie; 6.35pm, Dirty Beach; 7.40pm, Nicola Holliday; 8.45pm, TFI Music; 10pm, grand firework display; 10.10pm, The Buffalo Skinners.
