OXJAM will hold a series of fund-raising concerts in York for Oxfam throughout the lead-up to the Oxjam Music Festival on Saturday, October 25.

“We have a number of events booked in that will start with a launch party on Sunday afternoon at Grays Court, in Chapter House Street, hopefully in the beautiful grounds if the weather stays on our side; if not, within Grays Court itself,” says Oxjam’s Hannah Darnborough.

Sunday’s event will run from 3pm to 6pm with an acoustic line-up of York’s finest that will include Toby Burras, Zak Ford and the newly confirmed Bryony Drake. More names are to be added.

“Entry is free but there will be a small donation required, however small or large you would like to contribute,” says Hannah.

Acoustic Oxjam nights will follow at The Habit, The Hop, City Screen’s Basement bar, the Golden Fleece, Last Drop Inn and Woolpack Inn. “We also have a reggae night at the Spread Eagle, in Walmgate, on August 9 and a punk rock night at Gibson’s Rock Cafe, in Micklegate, on September 12, and we’re hoping to get a few more venues confirmed before the October festival,” says Hannah.

“For the festival night, we already have 1331, Dusk and the Yorkshire Terrier on board and we’re now speaking to another few places.”
