THE owners of a York roadside diner are getting their teeth into supporting a York family festival.
Hickory's Road House, based off the A64 at Flaxton, is sponsoring the main stage at the Apollo Festival on Saturday, June 21, at York Sports Club on Shipton Road. More than 40 acts will perform over ten hours, with Sheffield rockers Reverend and the Makers headlining and many family activities laid on.
Festival organisers' chosen charity is the Smiley Riley Fund - named in memory of young Riley Plant, from Burnholme, who died of a brain tumour in 2012 - which helps parents and carers whose children are undergoing chemotherapy with living and travel costs.
"We're delighted to be working with Hickory's as such a big local company," said Apollo organiser Stuart Kelly. Tickets cost £12 for adults and £1 for under-12s, with more details at apollofestival.co.uk
