THE City of York Folk Weekend 2013 runs from tomorrow until Sunday, organised as ever by Roland Walls, promoter of the Black Swan Folk Club.
Most events will be held at the Black Swan Inn, in Peasholme Green, complemented by a Songs & Tunes Open Session at the Victoria Vaults, Nunnery Lane, tomorrow at 8.30pm and a singing workshop with Soundsphere on Sunday from 11.15am to 1.15pm in the Marriott Room at York Central Library. The Black Swan will be playing host to performances in a marquee, as well as the Wolfe Room and Oak Room, plus the Bowes Room for an All Day Musicians’ Session from 12 noon on Sunday.
Among the participating musicians on Friday will be Edwina Hayes, David Ward Maclean, Carol Henderson, Stevie Mould, Gracie Falls, Sam McKie, Ben Parcell and Steve Kendra.
Saturday’s line-up includes Ebor Morris, Holly Taymar & Chris Bilton, King Courgette, Sarah Horn & James Cudworth and The Basement Band; Sunday features Kaminari Taiko Japanese Drummers, Union Central, Chechelele, The Jaybirds, Rakish Collier, The A-Rhythmics and Root 64, among others.
