Beer festival first for brewery town

A TOWN known for its breweries is to hold its first beer festival on August 4.

Tadcaster , which is home to Coors, John Smiths and Samuel Smith breweries, has not had such an event before.

So now Tadcaster Social Club steward Cliff Edwards has decided to address the situation.

The event will be held in the social club’s car park in Chapel Street from noon.

He said: “This is the first time there has been a beer festival in the town and we intend to make it a memorable event.

“There will be 20 ales from breweries all over Yorkshire because we feel that Yorkshire has some great ales to offer, apart from the mass produced stuff.”

The event will also include food stalls, a tombola and entertainment for kids and grown ups, with live music from local artists.
