A NORTON pub has reopened under new management.
The Railway Tavern, in Wold Street, has been taken over by Karl and Kay Mowbray, who have moved to the pub with their 11-year-old daughter Olivia.
Karl has been in the trade for 24 years, while Kay is a former nurse.
The couple, from Stockton-on-Tees, previously ran a pub in Yarm and prior to that, a deli and bakery in Devon.
Kay said they hope to get involved with the local community.
“We have lots of ideas for events to be held at the pub including quiz nights, discos and hopefully a football team,” she said.
“We also feel that pubs often don’t offer a lot for older people and we thought of setting up a pensioners’ club offering bingo, dominos and just somewhere people can come and sit for a chat.”
Karl said they were open to ideas and had placed a suggestion box on the bar.
“If people come up with something we could do then we will do it,” he said.
“We are hard workers and very friendly and want to make people feel welcome and at home here.”
