Industry greats in Aesthetica Short Film Festival line-up

A SHORT film festival will be staged in York this autumn, featuring a programme of film masterclasses.

Organisers of the Aesthetica Short Film Festival say it is set to eclipse its success of last year, when it established itself as a leading cultural event in Yorkshire.

“Among the industry greats giving masterclasses were Ivana Mackinnon, executive producer of Slumdog Millionaire, and the senior commissioner for Channel 4,” said a spokesman.

He said this year’s festival, which takes place between November 8 and 11, would feature a masterclass courtesy of Danny Cohen, the BAFTA-nominated cinematographer from The King’s Speech, who will make an illuminating presentation based on his work across television drama, short and feature film.

Myles McLeod, writer to the BAFTA nominated and award-winning animation team The Brothers McLeod, would also be giving an insight into creating the animated worlds that have captivated audiences from Guinness drinkers to Disney lovers, he said.
