THE Orillo Open-Air Experience will take place in the York Minster Gardens on Sunday, when gates open at 6pm for the 8.30m film screening.
Which film will be shown? Go to Orillo Cinema on facebook and vote for your favourite British film from this list: The King’s Speech, Golden Eye, The Full Monty, Four Weddings And A Funeral, Billy Elliot and The Italian Job (the 1969 version starring Michael Caine).
Tickets cost £13 in advance, £15 on the door, and if you buy yours from the Minster, Filmore & Union, LICC Icecream, Xing, Bang Hair, Thirteen Thirty One bar or online at yorkminster.org, you can claim your limited-edition pair of Orillo sunglasses at Sunday’s event.
The screening will be complemented by traditional cinema snacks, beer and a cocktail bar, a band and a DJ.
“We have the big Orillo sign circulating various places in York, so we’re telling people who find it to take pictures with it and tag us on either facebook or twitter @orillocinema, and we’ll choose a few of the best photos and they’ll receive a free ticket,” says Orillo Productions’ Kate Frater.
Orillo’s previous two events were held in the Museum Gardens and the “Secret Cinema” in the Railway Institute gym. “They’ve been a huge success so far and more than 500 people attended each one,” says Kate. “We’ve got two more planned for this year; one in October and one in December.”
