CITY Screen, York, is going big on Wagner in June and July.

The season began two nights ago with Wagner’s Dream, a documentary account of how the New York Metropolitan Opera has created its production of Richard Wagner’s operatic marathon, The Ring Cycle.

Over next weekend and the weekend after, Wagner’s 16-hour epic will be shown, as recorded at The Met.

Dates for the diary are: June 30; Das Rheingold; July 1, Die Walküre; July 7, Siegfried; July 8, Götterdämmerung. All start at noon.

To publicise the Wagner weekends, creative photographer Rachel Saunders dressed “models” Thorfin Hedensk Asmundsson, far left, and Ebor Singers and Yorkshire Bach Choir mezzo soprano Robin Bier and City Screen marketing manager Dave Taylor in a Wagnerian style.
