12:29pm Friday 27th January 2012 in Film reviews
AS part of Holocaust Memorial Day in York, on Sunday City Screen will show Sarah’s Key (12A) at 8pm.
In Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s French film from 2010, Kristen Scott Thomas plays Julia, a journalist in modern-day Paris, who finds her life becoming entwined with Sarah Strazynski, a young girl whose Jewish family was torn apart during the Vel’ d’Hiv round-up of more than 10,000 Jews in 1942. Eventually, 8,000 were sent off to Nazi German concentration camps.
Sunday’s screening will be introduced by Lars Waldorf, senior lecturer in international human rights at the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights.
