FILM critic Mark Kermode’s book tour show, The Good, The Bad And The Multiplex, at City Screen, York, on Monday, has sold out.

At 7pm, the outspoken, acerbic Observer and BBC Five Live reviewer will ask: if blockbusters can make a staggering amount of money no matter how bad they are, would it really be that hard to make a good one for a change? Why pay to watch films in cinemas that don’t have a projectionist but do have a fast-food stand, he wonders.

Kermode will travel into the belly of the beast to assess what is wrong with the movie industry and suggest what could be done to make it right.
